Shopping Reviews, Vol. 4

I’m still going through some of my memorial day shopping, so today I have reviews of the pieces I tried out from J.Crew Factory. Nothing is behind a paywall today, but some future reviews may be, so subscribe now so you can read everything!

J.Crew Factory Striped collared terry sweatshirt, XS and J.Crew Factory Striped terry short, M

I don’t think I’ve ever bought a set before, but there’s a first time for everything! When I saw the polo sweatshirt, I knew that I wanted it, and finding out there were matching shorts was the cherry on top. For the sweatshirt, I loved it. It’s true to size and the terry makes it cozy, but won’t overheat you.

The shorts I liked, but I accidentally ordered them in the wrong size. I’m not quite sure how that happened, but I decided to try on the medium, just too see. As expected, they’re a little bit too big and long (in the picture, I rolled the waist band to help them stay up). I’ve exchanged them for a size small, so I’m excited for those!

Verdict: Sweatshirt, keep! Shorts, exchange for a smaller size

J.Crew Factory Linen-blend belted mini shirtdress, Green, Petite Small

I feel like when I tried a similar dress like this last year, I was on the fence. But this one? I love it. By ordering the petite, the waist was actually in the correct place and I didn’t feel like I was drowning in it. I was also pleasantly surprised because sometimes with these dresses, they’re too short when I belt them. But with this one, the length was still perfect!

Verdict: Keep

J.Crew Factory Striped tiered knit mixy dress, Fern and White XS

This dress has been haunting me online, so I took the plunge and ordered it. The fit is great, but it’s a little longer than I expected (it’s supposed to be midi length, but I am pretty short). I really like it though, so I’m going to keep it. I might get it shortened, but I haven’t decided yet.

Verdict: Keep

J.Crew Factory Knit midi dress, Fern, XS

I have so many tank dresses like this one from Everlane, I was excited to see that J.Crew Factory made their own version! Since I don’t have it in green, I decided to test this one out. The fabric is a little lighter than the Everlane one, BUT, it’s not see through and still very comfortable. I also love the length of it. Overall, it’s a winner of a dress.

Verdict: Keep

J.Crew Factory Striped linen-blend sleeveless mini dress, Black and White, Size 4

I love stripes and this dress shape, so how could I go wrong with this one? Well, it turns out I could. The stripes are so small that this dress really looks more gray than anything else. I also thought that the neckline was wider than I would prefer. I was expecting more of a crew neck, and this wasn’t it. The good things about this dress? It was lightweight and it has pockets! Also, if you don’t like any of the colors the Factory version comes in, J.Crew has a few more colors (including this striped one!).
