In the more than 12 years I’ve been blogging, one of my favorite types of posts to do are shopping review posts. I have over one hundred posts of items I’ve tried on and described to help you with shopping. Now that I’m starting to (slowly) shop again, I wanted to start sharing those reviews again. Now, the majority of the reviews will be in front of the paywall, but sometimes, some of the items will be behind it. But you can see everything by supporting Something Good and subscribing!
Now let’s get into the reviews!
Aerie Daydream Denim Short, Rocky Blue, Size 26
I totally get why everyone is obsessed with these shorts. They’re so comfortable and I like that they aren’t super short. Also, the back has an elastic band, so it’s stretchy! I’m so impressed with these shorts that I might go back and buy them in another color.
Verdict: Keep
Aerie Daydream Denim Short, White, Size 26
So I saved on shipping if I bought two pairs, so how could I resist? I liked the white pair just as much as the blue. No additional notes!
Verdict: Keep
Gap Mid Rise UltraSoft Baggy Jeans, Medium Indigo, Size 26 Short
After trying out the pajama jeans the other month, how could I resist trying similar pairs of jeans? So Gap is fully correct in calling these ultra soft jeans. While they didn’t have the terry cloth lining like the other jeans, they were like your softest pair of broken in denim. I was actually really impressed with how the jeans sat from the side view. They actually fell like a wide leg jean (straight down), instead of being too tight around the butt.
Now, what I didn’t like was how they still look like they were pulling around the inner thigh. These jeans would probably stretch out, so that would go away. Also, even with getting the short length, they were still too long (short people problems).
Verdict: I really liked the jeans and was impressed with them, but I wasn’t in love with them. So back to the store they go!
Gap Mid Rise UltraSoft Baggy Jeans, Light Indigo, Size 26 Short
Okay, so these are the exact same pair of jeans as above, but right off the bat, I noticed that these jeans were shorter than the other pair. I couldn’t decide if I liked that or not, but at least they wouldn’t need to get hemmed.
I also noticed that I really liked the lighter color more than the darker pair. It felt more casual and more in line with the style of the jeans. I could actually see myself wearing these out.
Verdict: Maybe. I need another day or two to think about it, but I’m leaning towards yes.
Gap Mid Rise UltraSoft Easy Baggy Jeans, Medium Indigo, Size XS
These jeans were even more comfortable than the first two pairs. It might have been because they were looser right off of the bat, but the elastic waist didn’t hurt either.
Those two things would have made me lean towards saying yes to these jeans, but I couldn’t get past the cargo-like pockets. It was just so out of my comfort zone, I just wasn’t willing to push past it.
Now, if you are interested in these jeans, they do run large, so order a size down. I would typically get a size small in any pair of bottoms, but as you can see, even the XS ran a little big.
Verdict: Return
Gap Oversized Nylon Parka, Size XS
Why is finding a good rain jacket so hard? They’re always too tight on my arms or I get overheated or they don’t have a hood. (Why would a rain jacket not have a hood!?)
I’m going back and forth on this jacket. I was told that this jacket ran large, so to size down, which I did. But it’s still kind of big! However, that could be a great thing when I’m wearing heavier layers. It’s also pretty light weight, which is good, because I hate when rain jackets make me sweat.
Now, here are the automatic bonuses for me: the hood can be hidden and zipped away. Now, this is great because detachable hoods are the worse. They get lost and they’re a pain to reattach. When you can just hide it away, it rets rid of look of a baggy hood.
Verdict: I don’t know. It has a lot of bonuses, but would I prefer the tan over the black? Yes. Is it worth waiting to see if it comes back in the tan? Maybe.
Target Women's Nina Slide Sandals A New Day, Navy Blue, Size 6
Aren’t these sandals so pretty? The second I saw them on the website, I knew it was an instant buy. And they’re even prettier in person!
The sandals run true to size and they also have some added foam cushioning, which is a bonus.
Verdict: Keep
I have quite a few more pieces to review, but substack cut me off! Stay tuned for a follow up email with more reviews next week!
