Today I decided that all subscribers would get a taste of what a paid subscription post would be!
One of the substacks I follow, In Mode Veritas did a post the other day where she and a fellow writer shared what items they would own if they could only own one thing in each category. I thought it was a great idea and I wanted to share my list with you! (Also, go check out their lists, because they have some great things on their lists.)
If I could only own one....
Basic tee: Everlane Slim Crew
I’m forever on the hunt for my perfect short sleeve crewneck tee, but if I had to pick one, it would be Everlane’s. It’s the perfect mix of fitted, but not tight and it looks put together enough that you can wear it as a layering piece for work as well.Alternative top: J.Crew Perfect Fit Long Sleeve Tee
This has been my go-to long sleeve top for years! It’s not see through and it’s a heavy enough material that it feels warm in the winter. I’ll wear these all throughout winter by themselves and as layering pieces.Crewneck sweater: Everlane The Classic Crew in Cashmere
I’m debating making the move over to Quince sweaters, thanks to price inflation, but I can’t ignore the fact that my closet is filled with Everlane’s cashmere sweaters. When I had to go into the office, they were my go-to sweater and I love how they can also look great in a casual outfit.Secondary top layer: Quince Sweater Blazer
I fell in love with sweater blazers as soon as I purchased my first one. I almost always travel with one because it’s perfect to wear in the airport or to dress up my outfit a little. I also always recommend it for people who need a top layer for their office, but they don’t want to commit to a blazer.Denim: Madewell 10" High-Rise Skinny Jeans
Have I mentioned how happy I am that skinny jeans are back in style? It was actually perfect that they came back just as I finally started wearing jeans again, post-partum. Madewell has been the perfect denim for me for years. They have a little bit of stretch, the short/petite inseam is perfect for me, and the price point is manageable. There are always still other brands that I want to try, but I have a feeling I’ll always go back to Madewell.Alternative bottom: Zella Live In Pocket Joggers
I feel like I should have chosen a nicer pair of pants for my alternative bottom, but I feel like I’m married to these joggers at this point. I wore the same pair before, during, and after my pregnancy (I never had to size up) and they’re now my around the house and airplane pants. It looks like Zella changed the name to “Move in” joggers, but either way, these are amazing.Sneaker: Kizik Milan Monument Hands-Free Sneaker
I think I might just feel indebted to anything that helped me get through pregnancy or post-partum. If you’re a mom, these sneakers are a must-have. I can put them on without even bending down and then walk for miles in them. I don’t know how they made them so comfortable, but they did.
Boot: Madewell The Kathleen Lug Sole Chelsea Ankle Boot
I feel bad sharing these because they’re no longer available (unless you’re on ebay or poshmark), but I wear them so often. They’re one of my favorite boots to pack in the winter because they look good in everything AND work for rain or snow. It’s the perfect boot for when the weather isn’t great, but you still want to look cute. Since they aren’t available anymore, here are three alternative options that are pretty good: 1, 2, 3.Flat shoe: Everlane The Day Glove
I’ve written multiple blog posts dedicated to these flats, so I’ll keep it short. They’re amazing, comfortable, and come in many colors. For even more, you can read this post.Accessory: Fitbit Luxe
Is it silly that this is my favorite accessory? (Well, favorite besides my wedding ring and grandma’s ring.) I just love that I can have a fitbit that looks NOTHING like a fitbit.
Bonus round: Freedom Moses Sandals
I couldn’t not include these sandals. They’re my go-to every summer. They’re perfect sandals for the pool AND just any time. They come in a lot of different prints, but the gold may be my favorite.
