10 Things on a Friday and Lady Jackets
Needless to say, this week has been rough. As a Jew, I completely understand that this newsletter may not be what you need right now, which is completely understandable. But, if you need a little break from the news cycle, I’m happy to provide you with that break this week. Also, if you want to do something to help, this is a great way to do so.
I was going to do an email about lady jackets this week, but again, I’m tired. So I’m going to do 10 random things and include lady jackets in there.
Amazon Prime Days: It was kind of weird this week to just skip over all of the sale content, both as a blogger and a shopper. As a blogger, it just didn’t feel right and as a shopper, it just felt like too much to deal with (more on that second). I did need some maternity clothes though, so I did it as lazily as possible: I basically went through my Amazon Wishlist of maternity clothes, and added a few items that were on sale to my cart. My stomach just keeps getting bigger and it’s getting chilly, so I need some clothes that will cover that bump.
Buying things: Part of the reason I haven’t wanted to shop that much is because we’ve finally moved into our new place and since we’re still unpacking, it just feels like we have too much stuff. The idea of adding even more to it just feels unreasonable. The bright side of it is that I’ve become much better at throwing things away and sending bags of clothes to ThredUp—to the point where I’ve become a VIS (Very Important Seller) there.
Neighborhood Love: With all of the complaining I’ve been doing about unpacking/packing, I feel like I should say that I LOVE our new place and our new neighborhood. There are so many cute shops and good restaurants, it’s super walkable, and our dog actually enjoys taking walks now. It’s only been two weeks, but it’s already been such a nice change. Also, this article from Cup of Jo came at the perfect time (we downsized a little bit for this new place and I’m very happy about it).
TV: I think I’ve fallen into a tv rut, which is the weirdest thing to say when there are SO MANY streaming options. I’ve been going back to re-watch shows I’ve already binged, but I wouldn’t mind something new (to me) to watch. I just want a scripted show that will suck me in, won’t make me cry (or scare me), and has a nice back log of episodes for me to go through. Is that too much to ask? (Yes, it probably is.)
While I’ve been trying to find another tv show to watch, I’ve been living for Hallmark movies again. My favorites are the mystery movies (and there are so many new ones this month), but I’m all for their regular cheesy movies. I don’t have to think much and they’re a nice way to zone out.
Kobe Eats & Recess Therapy: There are two accounts that ALWAYS put a smile on my face when they pop up in my feed. First is Kobe Eats, where you can watch Kobe and his younger brother help their mom make meals. It’s so so so cute and it’s clear that it’s made the boys really good about trying new foods! Recess Therapy features a guy who interviews little kids about random topics. The kids have the best answers and the interviewer does a great job of interacting with them.
Needlepoint: I learned how to needlepoint about four months before the pandemic hit (perfect timing!) and I became such a needlepoint fiend. For the past few months though, I just haven’t been motivated to needlepoint. Pregnancy has also swelled an old wrist injury, so needlepointing also hasn’t been as easy. But, we’re officially in cozy season and I think I’m ready to pull the needlepoint back out again. Now I just need to figure out what box it’s in…
Maternity Jeans: I’m such a jeans girl, but finding good maternity jeans has been really frustrating. It doesn’t help that good maternity clothes are $$$. I tried to go the less expensive route and I ordered like, 10 pairs, between Gap and Old Navy. But I ended up returning them all. I finally gave in and ordered a pair from Madewell during a sale. They were still pricey, but it’s definitely been worth it. I wear them almost every day and it’s made me feel a little more like a regular person.
I LOVE a good cozy mystery (maybe this will be the topic of my next newsletter) and I just came across this list of new British Cozy Mysteries. Just in case my TBR wasn’t long enough, it just got even longer.
Lady Jackets: One of my favorite new trends this fall has been Lady Jackets. I’ve been adding them into basically every outfit I wear out because it instantly pulls a whole outfit together. I’ll even throw one over a basic tee and jeans just when I want to feel put together. I also love them because I can wear them in my regular size right now, which means I’ll be able to wear them post baby as well!
What is a lady jacket you ask? Well, it’s like a cross between a cropped jacket and a cardigan. So, similar to the sweater blazer trend, it’s a heavier knit that still looks work appropriate.
There are so many lady jackets available at different brands in various price points, so you can find the perfect one for you. I love the J.Crew ones, but I’ve also found great options at Amazon, Ann Taylor, and Gap! Below are some of the ones I’ve found and loved.

I love the bright colors and the quality of the bakeware is so good. I’m replacing some of my old sheet pans with their Holy Sheet Pan, I love using their Dutch Baby for stews and soups, and you know I’ll be using this dish for Thanksgiving. There are always great deals on the sales page and now is the perfect time to stock up.
